This is a video portfolio of some of my street photography work that I have done over the past 10 years.
Although I’ve been lucky to document city life in a number of large cities around the world (Philadelphia, Paris, London, Vienna, Prague, etc.), I live in and have generated much of my photographic work in New York City. Like many folks who live in New York City, I am originally from somewhere else….a transplant.
This city means so many different things to different people. It is, perhaps, the most photographed city on the planet (although Paris comes close) and I doubt New York will ever not be the subject of so many’s photographic inspiration.
But New York city now defines much of who I am and the way I see the world. Despite its enormity, New York is to me an intensely personal and human place.
It’s hard to imagine another city that is at the confluence of so much diversity, so much humanity, so many different experiences.
In my photographic endeavors, I want to observe, record, and convey something of this “humanness”.
We are sweet, full of passion, funny, sad, and a bit weird sometimes. New York has this, and more, in abundance. It displays the full range of human emotion and experience.
As a photographer I’m lucky that, with open eyes & heart, I get to see and feel this every day.
